The second week of Argonauts of Tu'Lia comes to a close. So far our trigger runs in particular have been very efficient.

This week we are hoping to add 2 more dios’ so that we can knock out 3 Byakko and start making kitty shorts people happy. We have been lucky to have a very solid Sky tank (who doesn’t hate to tank like other people.. shaid.. fun). We also have some very experienced healers and stunners. That combination (plus a pigtailed brd doing her best to kill the DD’s with buffs) equals win in sky!

I am “perma BRD” as Shuggz put it, but I don’t mind so much in Sky. In the future I’m sure I will have plenty of opportunities to kill my BLM.

Recently, I was lucky enough to lot high on Goliard Body and Cuffs in Nyzul so I am excited about that. Oh and a while back I finally bought an Enfeebling Torque but have had little opportunity to use it. I guess that’s not entirely true. I have been using BLM for off-time trigger farming. It’s frustrating to see that I can do 1600+ on zip but I see a lot of resists for around 800 and every once in a while, an embarrassing 400. I don’t do much enfeebling since I have Fun’s RDM there watching my back. We have a lot of RDM’s lol. Last time we farmed Despot we had THREE! Plus 2 RNG’s and a lone BLM (me).

I am having a good time in Sky, which is a relief. When I stopped doing sky last time I was so burned out I couldn’t imagine ever going back. At the time I had everything I needed for BRD and MNK (I guess that’s a lie since I don’t have Shura head or body). But now I am looking for RDM gear… specifically red-go-fast-pants. Shaid and Fun want those as well so I am planning to horde my points until they have theirs and then I will use them ALL! I might also go for an Osode since I gave Valout’s to Fun.

The One to Be Feared.. Campaign?

I’ve been trying to get into the campaign groove to level both my WHM (63) and my RDM (58). I have had a few friends try to help me understand the process of finding a battle that is just beginning but I have to say on the whole it still seems like a colossal waste of time. If your aim is to level quickly anyway. If, however your aim is to avoid seeking and participating in parties that you are in the right place. I am trying to rank up, I am told that will help me through the tedium that is campaign so far. It is nice to have something to do if you only have a small amount of down time before events and it’s a nice way to say “screw you” to all the would-be party leaders inviting the lone RDM to the “5-DD’s and me” party.

After days of scraping by in campaign Fun offers to level sync his NIN with me to actually party. I put him in my comments and did not seek long before 2 invites popped up. One from a BLU with a BRD and the other from a DRK with a COR. I took the BRD party, I’m partial what can I say? I chose well. This was without a doubt the best functioning party I have had through the entire range of 40-60 on RDM. When will people stop thinking that a set up that works at 75 does not necessarily work at lower levels? Rant aside, having Fun on NIN was like a dream. He required little more than haste and an occasional regen. Say what you will about Japanese players but the BRD and BLU were excellent. Far exceeding my expectations from even most 75 players. The party chugged along at a very nice pace and I dinged twice into my pimp AF body at level 58!

I’ve also been reliving my past in a different way.. “The One to Be Feared”. Airship oh airship how do I love thee? I have been helping out Shaid’s CoP static by standing in as the paper taru WHM. When my static did it I went on BLM so it’s interesting from a different perspective. Shaid’s group is more limited on job choices than my group was so we are working on strategies to make a different set-up work. It’s been fun and along the way I have gotten to know some very nice new people. I can’t wait to get them to sea and then kill them…

Me: “Oh… right. Um, watch out for the UFOs’. I’ll come raise”

My side of this public and never ending drama llama:

Fun, Shaid, and I joined an LS run by Jaydawg.

The rules were simple.

You come, and you can lot on 2 items.

Our VERY first run with the group Fun lotted on and won both RDM hat and NIN gloves. Lucky and unlucky because it put him and me subsequently on the "I no like em" list of Gendle, an officer. Mature? No. Reality. Yes.

Drama ensued as you can imagine. How dare fun waltz into a group and walk away with 2 of the most coveted drops from xarc? How dare he indeed.

The next run Xarc again fun came on his RDM. He gave 100% sleeping, curing, hasting, enfeebling... What a good RDM does, mind you that not all the RDM's in this LS do this.. some of them think that their job is to hold down the ground and stare off into space.

But then fun committed the ultimate sin..

He casted silence on a NIN demon that he had been keeping asleep.
*cue dramatic organ music*

Nothing happened as a result of this sin other than the NIN demon was unable to cast spells.

However, this was the moment Grendle had been dreaming of a little light bulb went on above his head.. a chance to humiliate and ridicule a new member who had had the audacity to lot higher on the damn RDM hat.

Muhahah oh the power of being a dyna officer! It went to a poor taru's head.

Grendle said a few choice words in LS chat about "noobs" and "screenshots".

Then he posted his screen shots on the forums so that other hatless RDM's could make comments like, "glad to see OUR chapeaus are being put to good use".

I chimed in on the thread and I won't say I was diplomatic about it but my comment sparked a little drama llama in which both the leader and another officer posted supporting Grendle in posting the screen shot and just generally condemning public flame wars. The thread was locked.

So according to Jay, Lys, and Grendle the LS policy is to post screen shots of mistakes made by members so as to belittle them... oh I mean so the rest of the LS can learn from their example.

Right?

Wrong.

Next run... an officer casts Diaga on a pull...

Full wipe.

It was a mistake and I would not have dreamed of trying to humiliate her for her mistake but I couldn't help but compare the two situations.

So to recap:

Fun casts silence on a NIN, no one dies as a result.

Officer casts diaga on an entire pull, everyone dies as a result.

Fun is the noob who should be humiliated so as to be an example of how people will be treated in this LS.

But only if your definition of "people" is anyone except the cliche that is running this LS.

We left this LS because from day one this was bullshit. If Fun had not gotten drops then they would have nothing to say but because both he and Shaid received relic from the group we are now "LS bouncers" according to my friend Lys who posted that on his LJ without ever even talking to me. This is an excellent example of a bad apple spoiling the bunch. One officer with a personal and ridiculous grudge but with the apparent support of the rest of the people running the LS turns into 3 people leaving the LS.

I really don't care about the gear as lame as that might sound. I have been feeling exasperated with the cycle of "get gear-to-get-more-gear" I want to have fun and try new things. Dyna was a new thing to me but it was most decidedly not fun.

The bottom line is that I am happy with my decision. Call me a bouncer all you want but in the end the less drama llama the better. I wish Jay well, I really liked the guy and I sincerely hope he gets his THF hands. Lys and I talked some in game although I don't feel anything was resolved. If our leaving made him look bad for vouching for us I am sorry for that. It can be hard when friends won't play nice with other friends and we are forced to choose. I made the choice that was right for me and that is all I would ask of anyone else.

This year I've been busy!

In May I broke funbard's X-Box (-12 points). Last week on a flight to Bangladesh, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). Last Monday I pulled over and changed kumarffxi's flat tire (15 points). In June I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points). Last Tuesday I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-1030 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Soooo... this post is a few months after the fact but guess what?

I haven't been playing!
/waits for the surprise to wear off

I had been planning to take a break from the game for a while before I actually left, for many reasons. A few of which can be seen from my older posts. The thing that has surprised me is that I really haven't missed playing. Which is not to say that I don't miss the people!
I finally canceled my ID's this month and accepted that this break is going to be a bit longer.

No. I am not quitting. No! You can't have my fish tanks!

Someone will need to keep Shuggz in line and remind him to drink water (vodka doesn't count as water)!

The best part of the night was...

I also went and helped kill some Ram for ysa's relic shield. Well by helped I mean that I waltzed in for the last 40 minutes of a 3 hour fight. By the time I got there people were talking about falling asleep at the keyboard and complaining about dying constantly while weakened lol. I came on BLM and it was utter chaos but still fun.

Tomorrow night Deemo will be on and he wants to work on his ZNM. I also want to make time to farm codex's and hate for Fun and Deemo to get go fast belts.

It's 2:40am and I just found one of these giant hideous bugs in the worst way.

I went to the bathroom but didn't bother to turn on the light... when I went over to the sink to wash my hands I stepped on something spiny and pokey and a little crunchy. At first I dismissed it as one of Ara's toys but after a second of thinking that it might be something else I turned on the light to see my worst nightmare scuttling a little dazedly across the floor.

Let me repeat that I stepped on this with my bare feet. So I am totally freaking out for 2 reasons. One, this prehistoric looking freak of a bug touched my feet. Two, I stepped on it and other than being a little dazed it looks to be perfectly fine.

I mean this thing was HUGE, it had to have been like 5 inches long and it had attitude too like it thought it could take me out. I put on shoes, opened the front door, cleared a path, then used the broom to sweep it out. Instead of running from my broom it turned and attacked! I'm glad I didn't know it could fly because then I might have just cried and shook in fear in the corner all night.

My foot feels contaminated and I am too freaked out to sleep now!

Salvage run with Kyriac's group...

I think it's called 42 (sorry kyr I fail at remembering numbers). There were some familiar faces; BB, kry, Haggrid, and a few ppl I was meeting for the first time. This was only my second time in Salvage so I still had that "deer in headlights" look. I kept close to Kyr and it was a lot clearer because of the voice server.

For the big thing at the end they were like , soul voice march! Do it! Do it! I thought in my head.. that's weird I don't think I have abilities back but maybe that doesn't apply to 2 hours. Turns out.. it does! It was good times though and I'm glad that I went.

It was super nice for Kyr to invite me and thanks to everyone for putting up with me!

Deemo and I planned to level THF and SMN 38~39 last night but when we got on there were literally 2 other players in our level range. So we took our excellent job combination on the road! I came up with the brilliant idea of trying areas in the past. I thought that would be great for two reasons; one, I think the past is nifty but I haven't gotten to do a lot in the zones and two, because I could have refresh with sigil. Having no idea where an appropriate camp might be we left Sandy on foot (no other choice right?). The past is strange, unlike most other exp zones you find a huge range of monster levels in small areas. We tried some bones and some floating plants then we zoned out into Jugner and tried crabs and more floaty plants. It was slow going and we died more than a little bit. Sug came out to save us and he sped things up considerably. All in all it wasn't a success as far as attaining levels go but it was fun and different so it was a success in other ways!

Blow Stuff Up!
I took my BLM out to exp last night and was pleasantly surprised at the boost in damage the HQ stave's and obi's have made. I feel like I am finally doing the damage expected of my pigtail-ness! I really love BLM and I hope I can find more uses for it in the near future. I took it out on some of our Windy Missions but found for most things small-man style a BRD is more useful than BLM. Mostly because Frypan has some really pwn melee DD's and no can pull off crowd control quite like a BRD.

(Also, I have forgotten how to use healing magic on BLM >.>)

I have played BRD for so long it stands to reason that I am more comfortable on the job and more familiar with my limitations. Meaning, I take on more than I can handle on BLM fairly often >.> Mackie is always having to remind me to run when kiting things lol. I am always thinking, I can take it down before it kills me. Sometimes that's true, and sometimes NOT! Last night my Freeze II's were a consistent 1940, which makes me happy considering the MP use that is fairly efficient. I think I can squeeze a little more out by upgrading my head and feet. Also that was just an NQ pie.

Salvage Who?
Tonight I will try to actually make the Salvage event. I think they are fairly pissed we haven't made a run since last Friday but we told them there would be obstacles and the only required events are MWF. Granted we missed Monday but RL Child > everything else. We'll see...

Now that I have my sights set on BLM that morrigan's robe looks pretty hawt.

I want to be just like Kyr! He will always be HQme lol.

Finished Windy! Danced on a dead Schizm! Finally bought a Jupiter's and Pluto's staff!

This week we will be trying more salvage with that new LS. I would also like to see about farming codex's and possibly doing a run on Friday. Bastok missions after a little break, probably a week(ish). Finish my Thunder Obi and test out my new fun stave's! I would also like to level WHM in the near future because quite frankly pigtails are adorable in WHM gear!

Also thanks to Fun and Shuggz because it was fun and I'm glad I did it!

We are poised to enter the last BCNM of our climb to rank 10 windy. We got too sleepy and our helpers dropped by the wayside as the night wore on. In the temple of ugly I was the only one holding a key and as I took off invis to open the door a tonberry saw me through the door and.... GLICH I was dead on the wrong side of the door with the key still in my inventory lol. It's tradition that I de-level to 60 every time I take my WHM out and tonight wasn't a disappointment, thank goodness! We will finish the mission tomorrow and the plan is to work on Bastok soon!

Working on Rank 10 in Windy has been like cut scene hell but it has been really fun hanging out with friends. Rank missions are nice because they aren't the hardest activity around but they like to surprise you sometimes and overall you laugh a lot. Like that time I accidentally popped all the NM's before Koli got there and killed Fun and myself.. yeah well maybe he will laugh at that later... I want to thank all of the wonderful friends who have been not only willing to help but have offered so generously. Coming out of a time when we were having some drama and tension it has been so nice to just be all together and have a good time. Did that sounds dirty? I don't know anymore, everything on Skype ends up being dirty! However much we disagree or misunderstand each other at the end of the day we are all there for one another. And there will always be good times and sexual innuendo on Skype! Oh and "yo Momma" jokes. Which BTW I find hilarious even though I am a mother. Anyway I've taken a "few" screen shots of the Mission fun (you know me if it happened I have a picture of it) but I will spare you every single detail and just post these few.. for now!

Soooo loving BLM. I love the power.. I keep thinking it feels like slicing through a piece of fruit with a super sharp knife. I won't continue this because I sound crazy, right? But there is something about casting a spell and seeing that Hit Points bar drop drastically. It makes me feel like I have knees.

My Brilliance? If I am the brightest star in Windy, they should switch to florescent bulbs.

SALVAGE

The other day I happened to be passing through Whitegate when I saw a shout for a Salvage LS. Usually when I see these I feel a pang of regret then go about my business. This time, they were shouting runs during PST! I was excited! PST! Something we can actually do!

We went on our first run tonight, that's right on the 4th of July. Attendance was low, but I think that is to be expected given the day. One of the members has been a long time member of the "loops BLIST CLUB" for being a strange jerk face. I had to un-blist him and he doesn't seem to remember me so I guess I will re-evaluate. I have been wrong before... I just can't remember when the last time was...

The run started over an hour late because we had to wait until the last possible moment to collect all the ppl.

I went brd (of course) and fun went sam (eventually since originally they asked for his mnk).

We did Silver Sea and I think that sounds pretty! I ended up only getting cells for body, hands, and instrument so I had to gimp through the boss fight. I died 4 times but the run was smooth other than that and the deaths were probably my noobtastic fault. Let's face it, a naked taru brd doesn't have much of a chance in AOE. I mentioned at the end that I think it would have been a good idea to at least let me have a staff to land elegy and they were like "lol you didn't have one?" So I guess I should have spoken up sooner. The LS doesn't have a voice server of any kind so it's a tough task to read all the party chat, do your job, pass/lot on cells and not look retarded on your first time. I think I did it well.. the looking retarded part anyway. All in all it was a pleasant enough experience, we were given pearls and asked if we were available every singe day of the week to do salvage... I didn't even know that was possible.

I am hoping I can talk Sug into joining with us because he could come FRI SAT possibly. If he won't then I want to leave those days open to hang with him. I miss him now that he is working all the time. Which is not to say that I believe woodsheds exist.
